Dr. Mark Gibson from KCI Technologies Inc., will present research on the source apportionment of wildfire smoke impacting the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This project formed part of a larger U.K. led study using satellites, aircraft, and other ground-based measurements to investigate the transport and composition of wildfire smoke leaving North America and destined for Europe. The measurements and modeling applications will be presented and discussed.

Speaker Bio:

Mark is a Senior Project Scientist with KCI in Sparks, MD and has over 20 years of experience conducting air quality and air compliance projects while in the U.K., Canada, and since 2019 the US. Prior to moving to the US Mark was an Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering and Director of the Atmospheric Forensics Research Group at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Between 2015 and 2020 Mark was also a NASA project scientist on the North Atlantic Aerosols and Marine Ecosystems Study (NAAMES).
