      <title>MAREP Spring Walk - Frogs and Wetlands! (April 23, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;font color="#373737" face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;img src="https://marep.wildapricot.org/widget/resources/Pictures/MAREP%20spring%20frog%20walk%201.jpg" alt="" title="" border="0" width="248" height="157" align="right" style="margin: 8px;"&gt;Join MAREP for a&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;font color="#222222" face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;Spring Frog and Wetland Walk&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;font color="#373737" face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;!&amp;nbsp; Spring is a wonderful time to experience the sights and sounds of the wetlands coming back to life after a long, quiet winter.&amp;nbsp; The tour will be led by Peyton Doub, an ecologist with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) with over 30 years of professional experience and a&amp;nbsp;current&amp;nbsp;member of the MAREP Board.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;font color="#373737" face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;font face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Pre-Walk Social:&lt;/strong&gt; We will meet at the&amp;nbsp;historic Old Angler’s Inn (10801 MacArthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854) at &lt;strong&gt;5:30 pm&lt;/strong&gt; for dinner before starting the walk. &lt;strong&gt;Please park in the trail lot&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;span&gt;(&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;https://maps.app.goo.gl/gcP49xFTs3hfcBoG9&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;)&lt;/span&gt; &lt;strong&gt;directly across the street from the Inn.&lt;/strong&gt; While there is no cost for the walk, dinner and drinks will be at participants' own expense.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;font color="#373737" face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"&gt;In case the lower trailhead parking lot is full, you can park in the upper lot, located just a few steps north of the lower lot.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Parking in the trailhead lots is free, and there is no admission fee to enter the C&amp;amp;O Canal Historical Park.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;font color="#373737"&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Frog Walk:&lt;/strong&gt; The walk will begin promptly at &lt;strong&gt;7:30pm&lt;/strong&gt;. Anyone planning to join us for just the walk should plan to meet the group at the trailhead parking lot (https://maps.app.goo.gl/gcP49xFTs3hfcBoG9), directly across the road from Old Angler's Inn.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;The walk will take place along the Chesapeake &amp;amp; Ohio Canal in Montgomery County, Maryland. We will walk about a mile westward on the flat canal towpath to a place where the normally narrow canal widens out into a small lake.&amp;nbsp;The walk will be slow and easy, and you will not have to get your feet wet.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;font color="#373737" face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;Important&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;strong style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;font color="#373737" face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;font color="#373737" face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;Comfortable walking shoes recommended!&amp;nbsp; Also bring a flashlight or headlamp or you have one. Trail level of difficulty considered Easy (flat/level).&amp;nbsp; The walk is less than 2 miles to&lt;font&gt;tal.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;font face="Arial, sans-serif"&gt;Feel free to bring binoculars and a camera!&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description>
